Welcome to Class 4/5AW!
Mrs A Williams - Class Teacher
Mrs G Ghent - Teaching Assistant
Welcome to Year 4/5 class page. Over the course of this academic year we have been incredibly busy and we are delighted to share some of our work with you.
As part of our design technology work we designed and made these Viking Longboats. We had great fun and we were very pleased with our finished products.
Look at the fantastic bridges we built with our parents and carers during British Science Week. We tested the strength of materials such as spaghetti, paper and marshmallows with some surprising results!
As part of topic work on Vikings, Year 4/5 enjoyed a visit from Richard 'That History Bloke'. He told us Viking stories, we explored artefacts and played a Viking game. It was a fantastic day and we learnt a lot!
We had great fun celebrating World Book Day! Mrs Williams was very impressed with our wonderful costumes. We enjoyed reading ‘The Twits’ by Roald Dahl and making disgusting biscuits and puppets. One of our favourite activities was reading with our parents.
Well done Year 4/5 for an explosive class assembly! You wowed the audience with your incredible scientific knowledge.
Year 4/5 had great fun at Boldon School. The Year 9 children had prepared an afternoon tea for us. We played some party games and took part in a Christmas quiz. The afternoon was very successful and we even got to take a 'doggy bag' of treats home!
We had an exciting Christmas party. We enjoyed dancing and playing party games with our friends. We also enjoyed some tasty treats that our parents had prepared for us. Yum!
Year 4/5 had great fun taking part in the Danceathon. Look at our photos!
In our science lessons, year 4 have enjoyed finding out about electricity. We have explored different components that can be used to make a complete circuit and investigated which materials are conductors of electricity and which are insulators.
In our science lessons, year 5 have enjoyed finding out about the properties of materials. We have explored the process of dissolving and have investigated how to make solutions and mixtures using different solids and liquids. We had fun investigating how to clean dirty water using different methods of separation.
This half term we have really enjoyed our maths lessons. We have used lots of practical equipment to develop our understanding of place value, addition and subtraction. Thank you to all of those parents who attended our parental involvement session. We enjoyed sharing our knowledge with you and know you were all very impressed with our mathematical skills!
