We have have been very lucky to have our own Santa's grotto in Reception. We have enjoyed helping to decorate the tree, wrap some presents and dressing up to take some photos. Here are a few photos from our photo booth.
This week in Reception we have enjoyed our Christmas party! We all arrived looking beautiful and handsome in our party clothes. We played lots of party games including; pass the parcel, musical statues and musical bumps. Everyone had loads of fun showing off their amazing dancing and some of us were lucky enough to win some prizes. We then tucked in to our delicious party food and had a well deserved rest.
Autumn term in R/1KC
Here, you will find out all about what we have been doing during lesson time, on school trips and other extra-curricular activities. Keep checking back for updates and pictures of our learning journey in R/1KC.
Odd Socks Day
During Anti-Bullying Week, we have learned about what bullying is and how we can try to stop it. All of the children participated in discussions about physical, verbal and cyber-bullying. They learned that it is important to tell an adult immediately if something like this happens to them or a friend.
On Tuesday, we came into school wearing odd socks to show how different we all are from each other and to celebrate our differences.
English lessons in Reception
During Autumn term, our English lessons will be centred around Traditional Tales, such as Goldilocks and the Three Bears, The Gingerbread Man and Little Red Riding Hood.
Little Red Hen
This week during English lessons, reception children have been learning the story of Little Red Hen. The children have written speech bubbles from each character's point of view and even made some bread!
Here are some photographs of your child as a budding baker!
English lessons in Year 1
Our topic for Autumn term in year 1 is 'Where could we go on the Polar Express?' This topic will take us up until Christmas, where the children will enjoy the story of the Polar Express. Currently, we are looking at 2 different books about trains: William and the Night Train and Journey. As the term goes on, we will explore a wider range of fiction and non-fiction texts linked with trains. We will use these books to develop our sentence writing skills, imaginations and understanding of different text types.
The Enormous Turnip
This week during English lessons, year 1 children have been learning the story of The Enormous Turnip. They have read the story and answered questions, made a storyboard, used role-play and made some turnip soup!
Robbie: "I do like it and I don't like it."
John: "Yummy, I like this."
We have also been practising our acting skills at school this week. Each child took on a role from The Enormous Turnip story and helped to pull out our very own enormous turnip on camera. Take a look at our slideshow below.
