National Curriculum overviews:
To see how we have split up the curriculum into topics in our school please see the termly topic web on your child's class page. This ensures we teach all of the key skills and statements, and keep the learning fun for children.
At Forest View, we use the Read Write Inc Scheme of work to develop a solid foundation from which children can spell and read with confidence and accuracy. At KS1, RWI books and Floppy Phonic books, which are matched to the child’s phonic group, are used in Guided Reading time.
Reading Schemes at Forest View
Developing strong links between home and school reading is vital in ensuring children become lifelong readers. The school will support parental engagement with their child’s reading by ensuring that appropriate texts are sent home regularly for both independent reading and books to be read aloud. The children read from the Oxford Reading Tree Scheme or from a range of free reader books. The Oxford Reading Tree Scheme books are boxed according to level and can be found in KS1 breakout space of LKS2 breakout space. Free reader books are located in both LKS2 and UKS2 breakout spaces.
We follow the South Tyneside Agreed Syllabus for RE.
